I'm looking forward to another season at least & wouldn't rate it lower than a 7 on first viewing personally. What's there looks great though & I prefer the approach of making what they could afford to do look great rather than shoehorning in more CGI action than they had budget for & having it look like crap. Really wish they had a bit more budget to include more of the action that would have been CGI if they'd written in those sequences. The framing & pace of editing seemed like areas that the creators here really "got" the original in & it was a for the most part pretty visually & sonically interesting to me throughout. Seems like they completely nailed Jet & even w/ the myriad of changes to the specifics, the plot & overall tone feels pretty true to original to me. I came away feeling like both casting & the performance were fairly consistent high points to be honest (Julia was probably the weakest link in this department for me), you really do need to consider the source when you're talking about a re-imagining of a classic in the genre IMO. They were still engaging to me & I like them as characters in the new series however. Only complaints I really had were that neither Spike nor Faye (but especially Faye) seemed quite self absorbed enough to fit the original characters for me. Overall I'm pleased Cowboy-Bebop is on but it does need to pick up the pace, parts of the story are beginning to amble along which to me means it has a limited plot, which is not good at all for a sci-fi show whether its satire or not.īig fan of the original series, watched season 1 of the live action series over the weekend & I think it's a scenario where they did a great job w/ it for the most part but it's probably still better animated. I believe Cowboy-Bebop owes a lot of its concept to 'Space Sweepers' which probably would have been a better TV series, if the two titles were swapped with Cowboy-Bebop becoming the movie it may have proved a better entertainment concept, but as I haven't progressed far with this show I may change my mind. Answer (1 of 2): Nowhere legally - It can be streamed via fee or subscription from the following online sources: YouTube Movies, Vudu. I have only just started watching this series but already it can best describe it as click bait sci-fi the prospect for this show looked better than the actual content, though to be fair Cowboy-Bebop is a dark satire with a comic book heart, albeit pumped up on low grade steroids.Īlthough the series retro look can be a bit jarring sometimes, especially the music, it takes the spaceship design concept of using space junk yard parts to a new level, there's no doubt the set designers had a great time building this stuff.
